Women's Anger Management Group: This group will help women learn and actively practice new skills, tools, and techniques to understand and manage anger, feel better about herself on a day-to-day basis and, as a result, significantly improve relationships. She will understand the anger escalation process and become aware of how anger affects herself and others. This group is open to women, ages 18 and up. Thursdays, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM. 12 Sessions. Starting September 17. Intake is necessary prior to group start (Insurance accepted, $270, sliding fee available for self-pay). Group will take place at River City Clinic in St. Paul, MN, sessions cost $95 per person per session. Eating Disorders and Gluten Related Disorders: This group will provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and emotional support for people wanting to recover from an eating disorder while simultaneously managing food limitations related to gluten. Clients will receive psycho-education on strategies to explore, address, and change eating patterns to better cope while receiving group support and understanding regarding the challenges and successes of living with food sensitivity. This group would be appropriate for anyone with an eating disorder and one (or more) of the following conditions: Celiac Disease, Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity, Gluten Intolerance, Gluten Allergy, Wheat Allergy. Open to all genders. First and Third Tuesdays of each month. 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM. 12 Sessions. Starting September 15. May, 2015: Stress Less: Twin Cities Men's Center, Minneapolis. Do you have a good relationship with yourself? How do you manage stress? Is it working? It takes a lot of bravery to seek assistance and support for life’s difficult situations – you are not alone. This presentation focused on practical ways we can manage stress. Open to all genders.
April, 2015: Chemical Health and Mental Health: Twin Cities Men's Center, Minneapolis. Do you ever feel bad or guilty about your drinking or drug use? How much is too much? How do you know? This presentation focused on signs and symptoms of chemical use/dependency. We talked about how mental health and chemical health goes hand-in-hand. Open to all genders.
April, 2015: Celiac Disease and Mental Health: Signs and Symptoms: Celiac Center of Minnesota. Heather presented on the most common mental health concerns related to Celiac Disease. Participants left with an understanding of the symptoms to look for in themselves and family members. Specific information was made available about how coping with Celiac Disease may lead to depression, anxiety and eating disorders.
February, 2015: Navigating the System: Heather joined a panel of social workers to discuss what it's like to "navigate" the system of social work licensure. This event took place at The University of St. Thomas and it was open to current social work students.
January, 2015: HIPAA Training at Lutheran Social Service: George Baboila, MSW, LICSW, Director of Social Work Services at The University of St. Thomas Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services and Heather Holt, MSW, LICSW, will present a training on the basics of HIPAA. What is HIPAA? How does it fit into the services at Lutheran Social Service? What are the best practices when it comes to HIPAA? Training is only available to Lutheran Social Service employees.
